Star Makers Publishing Launch Announcement

Your songs deserve careful administration. That means keeping track of who wrote what, registering the right shares and understanding the publishing royalties collected for you.

Star Makers Publishing is an independent music publishing administration platform for songwriters, composers, producers, artists and labels. We help you manage those tasks while you keep 100% of your rights.

Here is a closer look at what we do, how our plans work and what stays in your control.

What are publishing royalties?

Publishing royalties relate to the underlying song: the composition and lyrics, rather than the sound recording. If you write or co-write songs, understanding that distinction is a useful starting point.

Two main types are performance royalties and mechanical royalties. Broadly, performance royalties relate to uses such as public performances and broadcasts. Mechanical royalties relate to the reproduction of a composition, including certain digital uses.

The way royalties are licensed and collected varies by territory and use. At Star Makers Publishing, we collect performance and mechanical publishing royalties where we have arrangements.

Publishing administration brings together the information and processes needed to support that collection. It is not a promise of earnings: registering a song does not guarantee that royalties will be generated.

Register your songs and co-writer splits

Good administration starts with accurate song information. Who wrote the song? What share belongs to each writer? Have those shares been agreed?

We register members’ songs and co-writer splits with collecting societies worldwide. Your song details and agreed shares provide the foundation for that work.

Nothing is registered without your approval. Co-writers confirm their own shares, so confirming their contribution is not simply left to someone else.

If you collaborate, a split sheet can help you record the shares you have agreed. Keeping that information organised gives you a clearer reference when preparing songs for registration.

See registration status in more detail

A catalogue can contain songs at different stages of registration. A single overall status does not always tell you what you need to know.

With Star Makers Publishing, registration status is shown song by song and society by society. You can look at an individual song rather than treating your whole catalogue as one registration.

That detail helps you understand the status shown for each song and collecting society. Our collection is based on the arrangements we have; it is not a claim that every song is registered everywhere.

Collect publishing royalties with clearer records

We collect publishing royalties worldwide, then send royalty statements you can check line by line.

That matters because a total alone offers only part of the picture. Being able to review the individual lines gives you a more detailed record of what has been reported and collected for you.

Keeping your song information, agreed shares and royalty records organised can make publishing administration easier to follow. It also gives you useful records to refer back to when reviewing your catalogue.

Understand payouts

Collecting royalties and paying them to members are both parts of our service. We pay members the publishing royalties due to them under their plan.

It helps to distinguish between a statement, which records royalty information, and a payout, which is the payment of royalties to you. You can explore this part of the platform on our wallet and payouts page.

Choose a plan that suits you

We offer two plans, with no per-song fees. On either plan, you can register as many songs as you have.

  • Free: no fee. You keep 70% of the publishing royalties we collect for you.
  • Standard: $30 paid once, with no subscription and no yearly fee. You keep 80% of the publishing royalties we collect for you.

Those percentages apply to the publishing royalties we collect for you. They do not change your ownership of your songs.

Keep ownership of your work

Administration is not the same as transferring copyright.

With Star Makers Publishing, you keep 100% of your rights. Our agreement lets us administer your share; it never transfers your copyright.

Your approval remains part of registration, and your co-writers confirm their own shares. These are important distinctions when deciding how you want your songs administered.

Get to know the platform

Whether you have one song or a growing catalogue, the starting point is the same: clear information about your work and who owns each share.
